Anees Bazmee is an Indian film producer, writer, and director who predominantly works in the Bollywood film industry. Bazmee has directed over 60 Hindi, Marathi, and Tamil films of different genres throughout his career. His father Abdul Hameed ‘Nerang’ Bazmee was an Urdu poet. In a career spanning more than three and a half decades, Bazmee started his cinematic journey at the age of 12 and worked as a child actor. In order to gain experience, he dabbled in different jobs in the initial stages of his career. He worked as an assistant writer to well-known writers like Ravindra Peepat and Jainendra K Jain. In 1982, Bazmee worked as an assistant director in ‘Prem Rog.’ Following this, he assisted various prominent directors and ghost-wrote for over 15 films. In 1995, he made his directorial debut with ‘Hulchul.’ His 1998 film ‘Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha’ became one of the top-grossing films of the year. Following this, he went on to direct films like ‘Deewangee,’ ‘No Entry,’ ‘Singh Is Kinng,’ ‘Ready,’ ‘Welcome,’ and ‘Welcome Back’ among several others. He has also directed the upcoming comedy horror film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.’
